Dr. Ernest Vandeweghe
Director of USGFI Non-Profit Organization and Senior Advisor
Dr. Vandeweghe has had a long and distinguished career both as an athlete, and as a physician. He attended Colgate University. His long list of achievements include: Colgate University Hall of Fame; Basketball Captain; All American; All East; East-West All Star Game MVP; Madison Square Garden All Decade Team. All-American Soccer; Olympic Team selection.
Dr. Vandeweghe played NBA basketball for the New York Knickerbockers (1949 – 1956), reaching the championship finals in 1951, 1952 and 1953.

Dr. Vandeweghe served as an intern at Bellevue Hospital and pediatrics resident at Babiews Hospital in Columbia. He was Chief of Pediatrics at the USAFE Hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany; Chief of Pediatrics at Prairie Medical Group in Inglewood, California; Cardiac Consultant at Daniel Freeman Hospital; He currently serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Adolescent and Sports Medicine at UCLA Medical Center, Westwood, California .

After retiring from professional sports, Dr. Vandeweghe served as team physician and team consultant for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was appointed the AAU Basketball Chairman, and to the USA Olympic Committee. He founded Golden State Boys Basketball; Basketball Congress International; Summer Pro, College, High School Basketball League.
